Character Animation

Experience my process of animation for characters!

Blocking

During the layout and blocking stages I played around with different camera angles and framing and also determined when to cut back and forth between the two characters.

I spent most of my time within the blocking stage, really sculpting out polished poses to establish the storytelling and the personalities of the characters.

The blocking is where I do a lot of the brainstorming, seeing what works and what does not as well as laying down the groundwork of timing before going into spline.

Spline & Polish

Before going directly into spline, I may sure there are enough breakdown poses and in between so that my animation is not too floaty. Spline is where I see if the arcs and poses really do work well and if the the timing or pacing needs to be adjusted. Without going too much into polish, I clean up some of any possible jitter or parts that may not look as clean.

The polish phase is where I think the magic happens. During the polishing phase of this sequence I made sure to lock down those constraints on the props and add any finger animation as well as generally cleaning up poses.
